31st Sasol Sasolburg Marathon set for 28 March 2026

Entries have opened for the 31st Sasol Sasolburg Marathon taking place on Saturday, 28 March 2026. This renowned flat and fast event serves as a Comrades qualifier and is expected to draw over 3 000 national and international athletes, reinforcing its reputation as a premier fixture on the running calendar.

“Sasol is honoured to have sponsored this popular marathon for over three decades. The Sasol Sasolburg Marathon brings together elite and amateur runners from South Africa and neighbouring countries, using the power of sport to foster a spirit of unity and competition within our local community,” says Ntokozo Gcabashe, Senior Vice President at Sasol’s Sasolburg and Natref Operations.

The marathon route starts at the DP de Villiers Stadium in Sasolburg and passes key landmarks, including the Sasol One Site and Highveld Garden, as well as picturesque residential areas. Runners will have refreshments available every 3 kilometers, with our ever-popular water points staffed by Sasol employees and local businesses.

Excitement Building as Comrades Marathon celebrates 60 Days to Race Day

With just two months to go until the 2026 edition of the Comrades Marathon on the 14th of June, the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) can announce that preparations for the 99th edition of the race are moving forward smoothly, with a healthy blend of tradition and innovation. While the runners preparing for the approximately 87km ultra-marathon between Durban and Pietermaritzburg are putting in their final big month of training mileage (and some are running their qualifying marathon before the qualifying cut-off on 4 May), the CMA and its Race Organising Committee (ROC) are hard at work with the planning and logistical preparation that goes into this iconic event.
