Information we collect
When you visit RunningCalendar, we automatically collect technical information your browser sends us — IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, and the date and time of your visit. This is standard website analytics data.
If you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you subscribe to our ad-free tier, our payment processor (PayFast) handles your payment details — we never see or store your card information.
We use a small "locale" cookie to remember which city or country you prefer to see events for. This cookie does not identify you personally.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to operate the site, improve our event listings, respond to your questions, and process subscription payments. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
Third parties
We work with these third parties:
- Google AdSense — serves ads on the site. AdSense uses cookies to personalise ads based on your visits. You can manage these via the consent banner at the bottom of every page.
- PayFast — processes ad-free subscription payments. Their privacy policy applies to the payment flow.
- Cloudflare — serves the site's content and protects against abuse. They process technical metadata (IP, request headers) on our behalf.
Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to our processing it. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].
Retention
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your personal information within 30 days. Aggregated, non-identifying analytics data may be kept longer.
Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information. No website can guarantee absolute security, but we take this seriously.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated via email if you have an account, or as a banner on the site.
