Pitch in for a cleaner eGoli-Join event organisers in prepping the city for the Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K!

Jozi runners and the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series Team together with sponsors and partners will unite at a rewarding 'City Clean-Up' at Absa Towers West on Saturday, 21 September 2024, ahead of the 7th annual Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K, South Africa's biggest Heritage Day celebration

The Joburg City Clean-Up is a community-driven activity that is run by event sponsors and the organising team. Residents and runners are invited to come together and help clean up the streets of Johannesburg. The activity is a great way for participants to show their support for the city, contribute to a cleaner environment, and get involved in the excitement leading up to race day.

“We couldn’t ask for a better way to wrap up a spectacular 2024 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series season than on National Heritage Day,” says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Series Founder. “In 2024, the Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K marks its 7th anniversary, and for the first time, an event in our series has sold out almost three weeks before race day. We’re thrilled by the support. To celebrate and give back, we’re excited to host a fun ‘City Clean-Up’ the Saturday before the event. This initiative allows Jozi residents to help keep their city beautiful while enjoying a morning with fellow runners and supporters of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series.”

"The City Clean-Up is a fantastic way to get the community involved while building excitement for the upcoming race," adds Meyer. "It's open to everyone, with no registration needed. Just arrive at the venue on the morning of the Clean-Up, and our team will be there to welcome you. We'll provide gloves and bags for all participants, and once we are done, Absa will treat volunteers to a delicious breakfast pack. We can’t wait to partner with Jozi residents on Saturday, 21 September, as we work together to make the city shine for the Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K."

“Leading into the Absa RUN YOUR CITY JOBURG 10K, we celebrate our final 'City Clean-Up' of the series, uniting Johannesburg residents in a mission to restore our vibrant city's beauty. This initiative embodies the spirit of community engagement and sets the stage for an exhilarating race day,” said Jabulile Nsibanyoni, Head of Sponsorships, Brand, and Marketing. She emphasised, “The Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series transcends beyond the race, reflecting our unwavering dedication to making a meaningful community impact. Let’s join hands to keep Jozi clean and elevate the race experience for all!”

Excitement Building as Comrades Marathon celebrates 60 Days to Race Day

With just two months to go until the 2026 edition of the Comrades Marathon on the 14th of June, the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) can announce that preparations for the 99th edition of the race are moving forward smoothly, with a healthy blend of tradition and innovation. While the runners preparing for the approximately 87km ultra-marathon between Durban and Pietermaritzburg are putting in their final big month of training mileage (and some are running their qualifying marathon before the qualifying cut-off on 4 May), the CMA and its Race Organising Committee (ROC) are hard at work with the planning and logistical preparation that goes into this iconic event.
