South Africa's biggest Women's Month Celebration, the Totalsports Women's Race, returns in 2025!

South Africa’s largest Women’s Month celebration, the Totalsports Women’s Race, is set to take centre stage once again this August, with three unforgettable events across three major cities in three consecutive weeks. The excitement kicks off in Durban on Sunday, 3 August, followed by Cape Town on Saturday, 9 August, and concludes in Johannesburg on Sunday, 17 August 2025.

Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports, on the opening of entries for the 2025 Totalsports Women’s Race: “We are proud to open entries for South Africa’s largest Women’s Month celebration. Each year, this iconic event unites over 30,000 women across three major cities—Durban, Cape Town, and Johannesburg—offering participants the opportunity to take on a scenic 5km or 10km route, whether they choose to run or walk. From elite athletes to social runners and walkers, the event is designed to be an inclusive and empowering experience, celebrating the strength and spirit of women in a vibrant and supportive environment.”

Beyond the race, the Totalsports Women’s Race has proudly supported PinkDrive for 13 years, playing a vital role in the fight against breast cancer. In 2024, through the incredible generosity of event sponsors and participants, an impressive R158,584 was raised for PinkDrive— a testament to the power of sport in driving meaningful change.

“For South Africa’s elite female athletes, the 2025 edition presents a unique opportunity to compete in a world-class, women’s-only race on home soil, with three chances to test themselves against an exceptionally strong elite field,” continues Meyer. “We are proud to elevate the level of competition in women’s racing while ensuring that all participants and spectators can enjoy an exhilarating, high-energy race day experience in each city. We can’t wait to welcome thousands of women to the start line in August!”

“We are excited to once again celebrate Women's Month with three spectacular Totalsports Women’s Race events in 2025,” says Nikki Crous, Head of Marketing at Totalsports. “This race is more than just a run - it’s a powerful tribute to the resilience, determination, and unity of women. Each year, we strive to elevate the experience, making it more inclusive, inspiring, and unforgettable for every participant, from elite athletes to social runners and walkers. We invite women across Durban, Cape Town, and Johannesburg to join us in embracing the spirit of the race and #LoveTheRun as we unite in a celebration of strength and community."

Excitement Building as Comrades Marathon celebrates 60 Days to Race Day

With just two months to go until the 2026 edition of the Comrades Marathon on the 14th of June, the Comrades Marathon Association (CMA) can announce that preparations for the 99th edition of the race are moving forward smoothly, with a healthy blend of tradition and innovation. While the runners preparing for the approximately 87km ultra-marathon between Durban and Pietermaritzburg are putting in their final big month of training mileage (and some are running their qualifying marathon before the qualifying cut-off on 4 May), the CMA and its Race Organising Committee (ROC) are hard at work with the planning and logistical preparation that goes into this iconic event.
