About this event

The 2021 Soweto Marathon which was scheduled to take place Sunday, 7 November 2021 was cancelled.

In these tough times, preservation of life is key, we cannot ignore what unfolds before our eyes as the third wave of Covid-19 spreading like a wildfire, continues to maim our families, friends and loved ones. Prevalent conditions of the Covid-19 third wave pose a threat to the well-being of the South African Nation.

After careful consideration and extensive consultation with relevant structures and stakeholders, we had no choice but to cancel The People's Race (Soweto Marathon) that was to take place on 7th November 2021 at the FNB Stadium in Nasrec, Soweto. Unfortunately, the race will not be staged in any other form or format this year.
