About this event

The 2019 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon took place Sunday, 15 September 2019 from 06:40, at Vlei Road, Cape Town Stadium precinct, Green Point in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa. Distances included a 42km, 22km, 12km, 10km and 5km races.

The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is Africa's only IAAF Gold label status marathon. It is managed by a partnership between WPA, the City of Cape Town and ASEM Running and is endorsed by two of South Africa's sporting greats, Elana Meyer and Francois Pienaar.

Qualifying race for 2020 Old Mutual Two Oceans, Comrades Ultra-Marathons and several IAAF accredited marathons around the world.

The Sanlam Cape Town Marathon is a Abbott WMM Wanda Age Group World Ranking qualifying race. Athletes participating in the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon will earn points according to their age, time and gender, aligned with the following age groups for men and women: 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+
